Capillary Design & Production

The inspection of several tool designs when selecting the appropriate bonding tool represents a necessary and significant stage in bonding process optimization. In analyzing the performance differences between tools, it is critical to identify the capillary parameters that most affect the bonding process. The parameters that vary the most from one application to another are: Tip, Outer Radius, Face Angle, Inner Chamfer, and Hole. The ability to customize these features to provide a form-fitting solution relies heavily on a flexible manufacturing system that supports frequent modifications to the capillary features.

Kulicke & Soffa Bonding Tools manufacturing is predicated on better customization abilities and higher flexibility, especially when specific configurations are required. Unique material development, such as fine grain Alumina and the innovative Toughen Alumina (TA) guarantee durability and quality of performance during bonding.

To assure high bonding standards and compatibility to specific process requirements, Kulicke & Soffa has developed a unique capillary manufacturing method based on machining both the external and internal geometries of the capillary. The process is performed using automatic CNC grinding machines and advanced inspection equipment.

Kulicke & Soffa Bonding Tools manufacturing is subject to the strictest quality inspection processes in the industry, and is compliant with international standards (ISO and QS), thus assuring uniform and repeatable bonding tools.
